Mr fox animation

WALT- make drawings on google draw and use them as characters for our animations.

We had to use google draw to make different characters from the Mr Fox story. Once we made all the things we needed on google draw we put them into google slides and we made an animation. We had to make sure we moved the characters around and we had to use speech bubbles to make it look like the characters were talking to each other.

Here are some of the animations that we made!

Reflection-
We like that we go to add speech bubbles onto our animations so our characters could talk. We also liked that we had to be creative and not use images from the internet. It was fun making all the colours on the gradient.
Next time we want to make things more colourful and use more shapes. We also want to try and use different shapes that were on the internet.

Question-
Do you like our creative Mr Fox pictures?
If you made this what colours would you use?
What book could you make an animation out of?

Taonga Class Holiday Art

WALT- use google drawings to make a picture of our holiday adventures.

First we did a draft on a piece of paper. Then we had to go into google drawings and pick a colour for our background. We used shape tools to make some of the pictures. After that we made sure it looked how we wanted it to look and that it made sense. We had to have pictures of us doing something in our drawing.

Reflection-
2 stars- We liked that we got to use different shapes and got to use the different colours- it was much faster than colouring it on paper. We liked that we had to make our own pictures rather than going onto google and copying pictures. We also liked that we could change our backgrounds.
1 wish- Next time we would add even more detail to our pictures and use more colours mixed together. We also wish we could join shapes together so they move together.

Questions-
Have you made holiday art using google draw before?
How would you make your holiday art?
What did you do in your holidays?
Do you like our holiday art?

Proofreading for writing

WALThat- we need to proofread our work so that it is correct and make sense to the reader.

We have been learning how we can proofread our writing so that when someone reads it, it makes sense and is easier for them to read.
We learnt to check that we have capital letters and punctuation in the right place and to underline or circle any words that we think we may have spelt wrong so we can go back a check them later.

Reflection-
2 stars- We liked that we circled the words we thought were wrong because it was easier to find them when we finished and we liked that we got to write an interesting story.
1 wish- Next time we want to have more time to finish and add things to our stories.

Question- What do you like to write about?

Matariki Star Bags

WALT- understand Matariki and what the cluster of stars represent
WALT- write a procedural text

How to make Matariki Star Bags-

Equipment you will need-

1. Glitter
2. 1 reusable zip lock bag
3. Hair Gel
4. Water
5. Stars- stickers and glitter
6. Sellotape
7. A3 Black Paper (folded in half)
8. Glue
9. Coloured paper
10. Sharpie pen- Silver and Gold
11. Scissors
12. Colouring pencils

What you need to do:

  1. Get all your equipment ready.
  2. Fold A3 black paper in half and cut a square in the middle (you need an adult to help with this).
  3. Get your ziplock bag and add the glitter/stars that you want.
  4. Add 3 teaspoons of hair gel and add a little bit of water. Make sure you get as much air out as you can when closing the bag.
  5. Make sure the bag is zipped up completely.
  6. Mix up the hair gel, water and glitter inside the bag.
  7. Put 7 star stickers onto the black paper- in order of how the Matariki stars look.
  8. Sellotape the bag into the middle square that has been cut out- over the top of the star stickers.
  9. Glue the sides of the black paper shut.
  10. Write your name on your art- in gold or silver and add your title.
  11. Cut out some shapes on coloured paper, that suit the sky and decorate the border.
  12. Hang them up for everyone to see.

Reflection-
It was really cool because we got to make lots of shapes and use glitter and hair gel and stickers to create our art. We liked adding the glitter and hair gel in because it is not something we usually use in art. It was fun to put the equipment into the reusable bag because we got to choose our own colours.

Next time it would be better if we had more time to decorate so that we could make it look better and stand out more and it would be cool if we could use more colours.

Question- Have you made any Matariki Art and what colours have you used?

Beautiful Oops Art Work

WALT- create art out of something we are given and make it beautiful.

In our class we have been learning to create art from mistakes. We had to turn a scribble or a blob of colour into something beautiful.

This is some of the art that we have created, we hope you like it.

Reflection-
We were all able to turn our 'mistake' into something beautiful and it was fun to be really creative with our art. Next time we could add words to our art that could make it better and more colours to make it stand out.

Planning spaces.

WALT- plans help us to come up with ideas that we can use in our writing or stories.

In Taonga we were making a plan about writing a story that happened on a ship. We had to write what type of ship we were going to be on and what was happening on the ship. We also had people or things that we wanted to write about in our plans. We had to have a title to help us make our plan.

We have put pictures of Bentlee, Molly, Ariya and Bahlee's work for you to look at.

Reflection-
We think that we were all good at saying what type of boat we were on and we were also good at coming up with good ideas to use in our stories.
Next time we do some planning we want to write more ideas and keep our work tidier so that we can read it when we look back at it.

WALT- recount writing has a title and an orientation.

Here is Jahn, Levi, Brody and Liam's writing.

Reflection-
We did well at making our titles and making sure our stories made sense.
I wish that I could have added more sentences to my story.
